FIBROSCAN®
The quick, easy and reliable way to assess your liver health.
Did you know that approximately 25% of adults over the age of 20 have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease? Left undiagnosed, this condition increases the risk of liver failure, liver cancer, and other health complications.
At R·MEDY, we are ahead of the curve, offering FibroScan®; the best in non-invasive screening tests for fatty liver, and other liver conditions.
What's FibroScan® ?
A FibroScan® is a medical device that is used to assessliver fibrosis (scarring) and steatosis (fat in the liver). It works by measuring the stiffness of the liver using a technique called transient elastography (ultrasound based technology).
Who is it for?
A FibroScan® is ideal for individuals who are at risk of or have been diagnosed with liver conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, or those with a history of excessive alcohol consumption or obesity. It is also useful for monitoring liver health in patients undergoing treatment for liver diseases, helping to track the effectiveness of therapy and making informed decisions about ongoing care.
Why should you get a FibroScan®?
To Assess:
Liver disease is commonly known as a silent killer. This is because symptoms are often non-specific and can be easily ignored in the early stages. As the disease advances, symptoms may include fatigue, easy bruising, swelling, skin rashes, and itching. However, many people with liver disease may not experience any symptoms until the damage has become severe and irreversible. This emphasizes the significance of early screening for the liver as a preventive measure.
To Detect:
If you have risk factors for liver disease, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, history of heavy alcohol consumption, etc; a FibroScan® can be used as a diagnostic tool to measure the liver's stiffness, which helps to determine the severity and stage of disease. Detecting liver disease in its early stages enables your health care provider to determine an appropriate treatment plan to either monitor, reduce the possibility of, or even reverse liver disease.
To Monitor:
If it is determined that you have a liver condition that requires either medical treatment or lifestyle changes, the FibroScan® can be used to monitor the effectiveness of those changes over time. This allows your healthcare provider to make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan to maximize your outcome.
To Avoid:
Avoid a liver biopsy! A liver biopsy is an invasive surgical procedure that involves taking a sample of liver tissue for analysis. A FibroScan® can provide similar information without the need for a biopsy, making it a much safer and more comfortable alternative!
